RideVox location sharing has two separate scenarios: in-ride team location and external live location sharing.
Two kinds of location sharing
In-ride team location starts only after you enter an ongoing ride as a Rider. It supports Live Map, team position calculation, teammate distance, and voice reports inside that ride.
External live location sharing starts only when you choose Share my live location. It creates a read-only web link that you can send to family, friends, or support crew so they can view your own ride status.
Sharing your location inside a ride
Only Riders upload ride location during an ongoing ride. Observers can join the ride and voice, but usually do not upload their own ride location and are not shown as live location points on the map.
In-ride location is used to show your position, teammate positions, selected teammate GPS tracks, front/back relationships, teammate distance, and ride state. Location upload starts only after you actually enter an ongoing ride. It stops when you leave, are removed, or the organizer ends the ride.
Team position and voice reports
RideVox uses recent rider GPS, speed, heading, accuracy, and GPS tracks to estimate relative team position. Teammate distance and front/back relationships are not simple straight-line GPS distance; RideVox tries to calculate them along the actual GPS track.
If location is stale, accuracy is low, the route overlaps, the ride loops, or teammate order cannot be determined confidently, RideVox may temporarily skip distance reports or say teammate position is unclear. This avoids giving misleading distance when confidence is low.
Sharing my live location with others
Share my live location creates a read-only web link. Viewers do not need to install RideVox or sign in, and they do not join your ride.
The page shows only the sharer's display name, ride status, live location, GPS track, and last update time. It does not show other teammates, teammate GPS tracks, voice state, quick notifications, or internal team information.
If the ride has not started, the same link can first show that the ride has not started and focus on meeting point information. After the ride starts, it automatically shows your live position and GPS track. If you are currently an Observer, the page does not show ride location or GPS track.
Start, stop, and end
You can start live location sharing from Ride details or the ongoing ride screen, and you can stop sharing at any time.
External live sharing takes effect only after you explicitly start it. After sharing is stopped, the ride ends, or the ride is cancelled, external viewers can no longer see your live location. A link that was already sent may still open, but it will show that sharing stopped, the ride ended, or the ride was cancelled.
Privacy boundaries
Live location and GPS tracks are sensitive information. Send live location links only to people you trust. Anyone with a valid link may be able to view your live location while sharing is active.
RideVox does not expose the whole team's location through external sharing links, and external viewers cannot access push-to-talk, the internal team map, or ride collaboration features. You can stop sharing to end external viewing access.
