FAQ

What does RideVox do?

RideVox is the world’s first planning, sharing, and real-time collaboration solution built for road cycling group rides.

How do I sign up and sign in?

The sign-in screen uses one input field for both phone numbers and email addresses. The first time you sign in with a verification code, RideVox automatically creates your account and signs you in if the account does not already exist.

How do I delete my account?

In the current iOS and Android apps, go to Settings > Account Management > Delete Account. If you cannot use the app, submit an account deletion request on the RideVox website. Before deletion, manually end, cancel, or leave any ride that is not in a final state. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. It does not cancel or refund subscriptions, so manage or cancel them separately through the store where they were purchased.

How do I join a ride organized by someone else?

Tap Join ride on the home screen and enter the invite code, or open a ride link shared by someone else. When joining, choose Rider or Observer.

What is the difference between Rider and Observer?

A Rider actually joins the ride. After the ride starts, they upload location for Live Map, teammate distance, and Rider Position Report. An Observer can join the ride and voice chat, but does not upload their own location.

Why can’t I check in?

Check-in requires location permission and you must be inside the check-in range set by the organizer. If the ride has multiple meeting points, confirm that you selected the correct My meeting point.

What happens if I do not check in?

Checked-in members can enter the active ride automatically after the ride starts. Members who did not check in need to enter the active ride manually. If you were a Rider but did not check in, you may be automatically changed to Observer when the ride starts.

Why should I choose a ride server when creating a ride?

Choose a ride server close to the ride route whenever possible. This can reduce voice, location, and real-time collaboration latency.

What is a GPX route file for?

When creating a ride, you can add a GPX route file so riders can review the route in advance and view the route together with team location during the ride.

How do I talk during a ride?

After entering the active ride screen, hold Hold to Talk to speak and release it to stop. Only one person can talk at a time. If someone else is talking, wait until they finish before holding to talk.

Why can I hear others but cannot talk myself?

Common causes include microphone permission being off, voice not connected yet, an unstable network, or system audio being affected by a phone call, Siri, or headset switching. Check microphone permission and voice connection state, then re-enter the active ride screen and try again.

Why does Live Map or Rider Position Report have no location?

Live Map and teammate distance reports depend on Rider location. Confirm that you are a Rider, location permission is enabled, location accuracy is good enough, and the app has received a valid location. Observers do not upload location.

How does Rider Position Report decide nearby, ahead, and behind?

RideVox adjusts the nearby range based on your current speed. If speed is unknown or at or below 20 km/h, teammates within 10 m are treated as nearby. If speed is above 20 km/h and below 40 km/h, the nearby range is 15 m. If speed is at or above 40 km/h, the nearby range is 20 m. Teammates outside that range are reported as ahead or behind based on relative position.

Is a Bluetooth button required?

No. Without a Bluetooth button, you can still use the on-screen Hold to Talk button. A Bluetooth button is strongly recommended during rides because it lets you talk, request Rider Position Report, and send quick notifications without looking down.

Where can I buy a Bluetooth button?

You can buy a compatible Bluetooth button yourself. A RideVox-compatible button is usually a Push to Talk Bluetooth button whose button events can be sent directly to RideVox instead of being handled by the phone system for calls, music, volume, or keyboard input. After connecting it, use the Learn flow to match short press, double click, and long press.

If you want a button that is known to work, you can also buy an officially certified Bluetooth button from the RideVox website.

Can a Bluetooth button be used for check-in?

No. A Bluetooth button cannot be used for meeting point check-in. Long press is only for PTT Hold to Talk. Short press and double click can be used for Report Group 1, Report Group 2, or Quick Notifications.

Does Bluetooth button disconnection affect the ride?

No. The ride does not stop if the Bluetooth button is unavailable. You can continue using the on-screen Hold to Talk button.

What happens after lock screen, backgrounding, or network loss?

RideVox will try to keep or recover voice, location, and notification capability during the ride, but background reliability depends on system settings, network, location permission, notification permission, and Background App Refresh. After returning to the foreground, refresh or re-enter the active ride if needed.

Does live location sharing show all teammates?

No. Share my live location only shows the sharer’s own location and track. It does not show other teammates. Anyone with the link can view it without signing in, and the sharer can stop sharing at any time.

Why am I not receiving notifications?

Check system notification permission and RideVox notification settings. Turning notifications off does not block foreground riding, but you may miss ride start, ride end, join request, member change, and meeting point change alerts.

What is the 30-day trial?

The 30-day trial starts automatically when you register your account. It temporarily unlocks RideVox Pro, with unlimited ride organizing and participation during the trial. Each account or device can use it once. After the trial ends, if you do not subscribe to RideVox Pro, your account returns to the limited monthly free allowance.

What is the difference between non-subscribed users and RideVox Pro?

Non-subscribed users can join a limited number of rides each month. Free allowance is calculated by account and current device. RideVox Pro allows unlimited ride organizing or participation.

When is free quota consumed?

Creating drafts, editing rides, viewing details, and joining rides that have not started usually do not consume quota. Starting a ride, or actually entering a ride that has already started, may consume free quota. Free allowance is calculated by account and current device.

What can I do after free quota is used up?

You can still view and keep rides that have not started, but you cannot start a new ride, check in to a new ride, or join a new ride that has already started. Subscribe to RideVox Pro to continue.

Why does the app require an update?

Required updates protect compatibility, security, and key feature availability. If your installed version is below the minimum supported version, update the app before continuing.

What is the difference between the organizer ending a ride and a member leaving?

When the organizer taps End ride, the whole ride ends and all members leave. A regular member can only leave their own current active ride, and cannot rejoin the same active ride afterward.
